Do It Properly…

01/03/2010

I paint way too slow for this level of meh.

One of ten Skyclaws done, mostly. While its not terrible, I think I can do better. I also need to reduce the number of steps this takes.

You can tell he’s important by the fact he has a hammer with a chainsaw built into it.

I’m building (and painting) a Space Wolves army for my brother. The centerpiece of the army list is a Wolf Priest + Skyclaws combo which is what I’m currently working on in my merry-go-round of procrastination.

I am very eh on the first wave of Space Wolf models, especially since aside from Njall and Canis (blech) there’s not much in the way of up-to-date models for their HQ choices. So converted this guy out of bits. I worry if he’s priest-y enough, but once painted there’s not much he can be mistaken for.

Yes, I know the jump pack looks terrible at the moment; it is very much a work in progress. Yes, I know it’s not a Space Wolf head; the point is a will paint a Death’s Head on his face (in theory). I have since fixed the issue with the height of the jump pack from the torso.

Work In Progress: Wardog Dreadnought (Assault Cannon/DCCW)

I found a use for more of that Tyrus I bought all those years ago.

Work In Progress: Servitors

My Master of the Forge has a couple of servitors following him around. I don’t really care for the current servitor models so I built them out of some Dark Angel veteran parts. I was going to use some Empire Flagellants, but they were a bit small when I went to test fit detail bits.

Work In Progress: Rhino(s)

Building a handful of tanks for my army. I have been adding stowage to them so they look less sterile.

I painted a squad of marines. No really, I did.

I finished painting a small squad of scouts. This took entirely too long for how mediocre they turned out.

I like the idea of Mordheim more than the reality of Mordheim.

I really like Mordheim conceptually, but never really had that much fun actually playing it. I kind of wish that Warhammer Online had been based off of Mordheim instead. Sure its a smaller scope, but it is a much better premise for a small to medium-sized group game with the potential for exploration, PvE, and open PvP. Instead, we get something kind of meh that is not quite WFB or WFRP.

So I painted this berserker, now I’ll never paint another Chaos Space Marine again.

Painted for a Halloween ‘Blood, Guts, and Gore” painting comp at the GW store. Sadly there really wasn’t much competition. Sadly almost, not quite, a win by default.

Eh, not bad I guess…

This guy turned out better than I thought he would in the end. There are some problems with it, but I know what to keep in mind for next time now.

Work In Progress: Wardog Chapter Master

After deciding on a different color scheme, I decided to try it out on my chapter master/Pedro Kantor conversion. The real shame is the 1500 point list I’m currently building towards now doesn’t include him.
